Crowns 2nd Edition
A downloadable game
KICKSTARTER PRE-LAUNCH PAGE IS LIVE
Crowns 2e is a new school rpg built on the foundations of the old school renaissance. It excels at telling stories of low-magic, and high fantasy, where panic and terror are just as frequent as broken bones and splintered shields.
In Crowns 2e, players take on the role of Seekers, treasure hunters that delve into dark dungeons in search of fiends and fortune. In this world, the bad guys have won, and the world is split among countless petty overlords, the unholy remnants of the army of ultimate evil.
Crowns 2e has all the same core features from first edition you've come to recognize:
- Combat is simple and speedy, while encouraging teamwork and tactical decision making through the stunt and parry systems.
- Inventory management means more than just what you can use right now, but what you have on you when a fight breaks out, what problems you can solve in a pinch, and how much treasure you can carry home.
- Healing and recovery take time, broken bones don't heal overnight, and peril can cause even the bravest lion-heart to question their line of work.
- Renown milestones and unique titles advance and personalize the player characters in a classless system, kept concrete with guides on how to make classic character archetypes like Fighters and Wizards (if you so wish).
For Game Masters
Game Masters are given the tools they need to generate massive, inter-connected hexcrawls, full of warring factions, uneasy alliances, and bristling with fully realized dungeons to explore and treasure hoards to recover. This book also includes:
- A bestiary of 80 classic fantasy monsters (each entry kept easily readable!)
- Over 40+ interwoven tables of treasures (ceremonial arms and armor, cloth-of-gold tapestries, silver idols, potions, orichalcum rings, diamonds, magic artefacts, arcane foci, and more: all with gold values, modifiers, and quirks!)
- Methods of converting modules and monsters from other RPG systems over to Crowns 2e (no need to throw out your old books, they're still good!)
- The return of the acclaimed faction system (improved and better than ever!)
For Players
Players are given the room they need to build their own Seekers from the ground up: what gear they carry defines their character, what titles they earn empower them, and what keep they rule over enables them to bring the fight to evil! This book also includes:
- A two-page spread on character creation (make them quick and easy so we can get playing!)
- 36 Titles to personalize your Seeker with over the course of their career (sound confusing? There's also premade lists in case you want to skip the specifics and just make a Fighter, Paladin, Wizard, Rogue, etc!)
- Simple yet in-depth rules for strongholds, downtime, retainers, and warfare (why only impact the hex your in when you can impact the whole region!)
- 20 spells, each rare and powerful (their casting effected by what's around you, your skill, and the amount of force you put behind it, you might turn a puny fire ball into a raging inferno!)
Quickstart Rules
Inside these rules is everything you need to run adventures using Crowns 2e for free! It also comes with a short adventure (Terror at Temple Hill) to play through and all the stat-blocks and loot tables needed to do so. Try it out, and if you like it, get the full game!
