3/16/2022 - Physical Copies!
Physical Copies
The last time I posted a devlog was over 2 months ago, but now we have a BIG UPDATE on our hands! The physical copies of Crowns have officially been ordered, all 550 of them!
According to the printer’s they’ll be ready to ship out at the end of this month or at the beginning of next month. Considering global supply chain delays added 2 weeks for my last printing, I wouldn’t be surprised if that time was pushed back a little further than expected.
Plans for the Near Future
Mini-expansions for the Crowns OSR RPG are on their way! I’m currently working on finishing up our first official adventure (which will be included in your purchase of the Core Rules), and a random adventure generator for free after that.
From their the focus will shift to more mini-expansions, covering things like firearms, naval warfare, more magic items, etc., and onto the writing of Where the Wind Bites Like Steel, our next big book for Crowns that many have already pre-ordered through the Kickstarter.
The Great Rebranding
I am (as well as my company is) now called Ward Against Evil, and you’ll see my logo on the updated cover pages for the Core Rules and the Feat Cards. Inked Gas did a great job on the logo and I’m excited to continue working with him in the future!
Changelog
This will be the final changelog of Crowns 1st Edition. Now that the book is in print I want to keep everything consistent.
- Removed all mentions of Firestarters
- Clarified instances of the term bedroll
- Added vignettes to all the pages
- Added logo to the front cover
- Removed all mentions of rations as items instead of supplies
- Replaced items in the Chef and Farmer backgrounds due to the removal of ration items
- Minor grammatical errors

My two cents: I think the vignette borders on the pages makes the contents feel more cramped, and gives the design a less crisp look.
The print version won’t have them due to printing restrictions. Due you think they would benefit from being slightly subdued or are they doomed altogether? I personally think they make the text pop!
The other option was to have a version without the vignettes anyway for easier printing.
I think that they need at the very least to be subdued a lot, but I personally would prefer that they were gone completely. I think the text pops more without it, by letting it breathe a little with the added white space. If you could have provide two versions, that would be great!
How are things looking for Delve Darker Dungeons?
Pretty good, don’t have any release-level content yet. I want to make sure the adventure generator is solid, like the B/X D&D one, so it can be useful to everyone (including me). More updates coming down the pipeline
